The ICMR–CDSCO 2026 initiative on Scrub Typhus IVD evaluation highlights the growing importance of predefined, reproducible performance standards for diagnostic tests such as IgM ELISA and rapid diagnostic tests.
For researchers, laboratories, manufacturers and CROs, the message is clear: diagnostic innovation must be supported by robust validation — including appropriate reference standards, representative samples, reproducibility, statistical justification and transparent documentation.
Strong diagnostics are not built on technology alone. They are built on reliable evidence.
A positive step toward improving diagnostic quality, regulatory confidence and ultimately better clinical decision-making in India.
